British Empire used famine as a weapon of war dozens of times. It will continue to do so until it is defeated and quarantined from the rest of humanity.
It’s hard to read through all of that history without seeing the same patterns repeating - just dressed up in modern language and institutions. Empires rebrand themselves and outsource the dirtiest work to whoever is willing to act as the frontline enforcer.
What’s happening in Gaza is simply the continuation of a very old playbook: blockade, starve, crush morale, then pretend it’s all just unfortunate circumstance. The British did it in India and Ireland. The Americans picked it up with Kissinger’s cold-blooded “food-as-power” doctrine. Now Israel carries it forward with Western backing.
The logic is always the same: keep populations weak enough that they can’t resist. It’s not about hatred or ideology as much as it is about raw control over land and resources. That doesn’t make it any less monstrous - it just makes it predictable.
And maybe that’s the point worth holding onto: none of this is accidental, none of it is some freak “tragedy of history.” Once you see that, the pieces click into place, and the question shifts from “How could they let this happen?” to “How long will people keep letting them run the same game?”
It feels grim to admit, but maybe honesty about the nature of power is the first step toward breaking it.
Otherwise, we’ll keep telling ourselves it’s all just bad luck, or the weather, or some unavoidable clash of cultures. And we know it’s not.
"Thirty Years On, The Holocaust In Cambodia And Its Aftermath Is Remembered"
John Pilger, June 19, 2011
Year Zero had begun shortly after sunrise on April 17, 1975 when Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge guerrillas entered the capital, Phnom Penh. They wore black and marched in single file along the wide boulevards. At one o’clock, they ordered the city abandoned. The sick and wounded were forced at gunpoint from their hospital beds; families were separated; the old and disabled fell beside the road. “Don’t take anything with you,” the men in black ordered. “You will be coming back tomorrow.” Tomorrow never came. An age of slavery began.
At a primary school called Tuol Sleng, I walked through what had become the “interrogation unit” and the “torture and massacre unit.” Beneath iron beds I found blood and tufts of hair still on the floor. “Speaking is absolutely forbidden,” said a sign. “Before doing something, anything, the authorization of the warden must be obtained.”
After a while, one sound had a terrible syncopation: rising and falling day and night. Without milk and medicines, children were stricken with preventable disease like dysentery. It seemed that the very fabric of the society had begun to unravel. The first surveys revealed that many women had stopped menstruating.
What compounded this was the isolation imposed on Cambodia by the West because its liberators, the Vietnamese, had come from the wrong side of the cold war, having driven America out of their country in 1975. Cambodia had been the West’s dirty secret since President Richard Nixon and his national security adviser Henry Kissinger ordered a “secret bombing,” extending the war in Vietnam into Cambodia in the early 1970s, killing hundreds of thousands of peasants. “If this doesn’t work,” an aide heard Nixon say to Kissinger, “it’ll be your ass, Henry.” It worked in handing Pol Pot his chance to seize power.
Britain, the U.S., and China, Pol Pot’s principal backer, invented a “non-communist” coalition in exile that was, in fact, dominated by the Khmer Rouge. In Thailand, the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency formed direct links with the Khmer Rouge. In 1983, the Thatcher government sent the SAS to train the “coalition” in land-mine technology – in a country more seeded with mines than anywhere on earth except Afghanistan. “I confirm,” Thatcher wrote to opposition leader Neil Kinnock, “that there is no British government involvement of any kind in training, equipping, or cooperating with Khmer Rouge forces or those allied to them.” The lie was breathtaking. On June 25, 1991, the Major government was forced to admit to parliament that the SAS had been secretly training the “coalition.”
If I may remark on a little thing, I notice westerners often say "history" to mean the series of significant political happenings, including those of today, with the faint (or perhaps not so faint) suggestion of linearity. It's rather strange to me, for us in the east, the past is just the plain past, whether something big happened or little. The now is the now.
When discussing the crimes of the British Empire we should not forget what the British did to the Irish. The Irish were said to have suffered a "potato famine" resulting in the starvation and death of more than 1 million inhabitants. It was an outrageous lie, the potatoes were shipped to England and abroad for profit and nobody was concerned about the lethal effect it had on the population. The Irish had no rights at all; whenever the English committed a crime they passed a law making it legal. No other nation suffered to the extent the Irish did. If black people resented slavery (created by their own people in Dahomey (now Benin) they were fortunate in relation to what the Irish suffered at the hands of the English. This is not the place for all the details. Interested parties should read the relevant literature, in particular "The Unionjacking of Ireland" for the full story. I, however, cannot resist to give one example. There is a place in Northern Ireland - a country estate now run by the National Trust - called Castle Ward. It is a magnificent building with breathtaking views over Loch Strangford. During the time of the famine the wife of the feudal owner of the estate (English nobility owned everything in Ireland at the time) felt that a very small village (ca. 600 inhabitants) on the edge of Loch Strangford "spoiled" her view. The solution? She arranged for all the villagers to be sent to the United States and then had all the dwellings removed to be able to "enjoy" an unblemished view from her windows.
I know Castle Ward very well, and spent a lot of time there when growing up. Must admit, I didn't know that about the village....
As for Ireland exporting food while its people starved: a LOT of people don't know this which I think is a perfect illustration of the level of control exerted over the historical narrative. The population decreased by about 2 million, of which about 1.25 million died and the remainder emigrated. Ireland's total population (north and south) has still not recovered to the levels of 1840.
Well, if you know Castle Ward you also know the ancient "tower" near the shore. The village used to be around that tower and details of the story are provided inside the house.
I know the tower. I just thought it was a stable yard serving the 'big house'. Now it's a set up for Game of Thrones stuff, some of which was shot there.
Haven't been there for a while, so I'll have a better look next time I'm over.
Excellent choice. Normally, one would say "Enjoy", but in this case it is a very moving as well as shocking experience when you learn about the suffering of the Irish and the amoral and immensely cruel behavior of the English.
I am interested to hear more though how Africans created the cruel slavery system as practiced by Western slave takers, a system which we abhor today..
I do not wish to go into too much detail on this vastly exploited and distorted matter. Just go and check the facts. The slave trade was an African "invention" practised by Dahomey (now Benin) (=big business) and was ultimately stopped by the British when they blocked the port of Dahomey preventing ships from arriving and leaving.
Paul Craig Roberts has explained this matter. Dahomey, apparently, was an African kingdom at the time, which specialized in slavery. The king of Dahomey offered slaves to any interested party. When the "Whites" (English/French) went to Africa they became his customers. This was particularly handy for the British who needed workers in the West Indies. After a while, however, there were movements in Britain and other countries against this "trade". Dahomey did not wish to give up this business and the British, therefore, blocked its port and thus put an end to the transport of Africans to outside Africa. And no, the black people did not ship themselves to the western hemisphere. This should answer your question.
During the times of apartheid here in South Africa, there were blacks who collaborated with the white apartheid government .. In fact, many blacks worked for the apartheid government.. It even goes back to the time when the Boers conquerd the Zulu kingdom in the 1830s where some Zulu warriors sided with the Boers against their own people and king.. This isn't anything new, and shouldn't be talked about as if blacks favored apartheid, land dispossession or had created their oppression ..
The City of London's banking families will be found at the root of this colonial behaviour across Europe and the Five Eyes countries. It all comes down to money and resources and in the end, power over all using Old Testament methods to colonise, subjugate and destroy. All the royal families of Europe were in on it as well as the banking and industry elite of the USA.
This time is different. Because this time it is being live-streamed. They can no longer hide it from all the people, all the time.
The fools & psychopaths see it & think its a good thing. But the rest of us see it & realize the only difference between the Palestinians & us is they are at the front of the line & we are further back.
I live on SS, yet manage to give monthly to several gofundme sites that help to feed Gaza.
I watch for updates, which let me know they are still alive & functioning. Hani just sent one. They operate out of an Orthodox Catholic Church & feed thousands.
Please consider donating. Details are at the link:
Mary, I've read that money from outside Gaza can't reach the Palestinians. They have no access to their accounts. Or that a money lender type can access the money, but about 40% is charged. My question is how does GoFundMe get the donations to these amazing food kitchens?
I have heard similar & I don't know. I do know that there are people who will spread rumors & lies to ruin anything good, so I ignore the rumors.
I know that gofundme has a sliding scale set to 17%, but I change it to 3.5% because I'm embarrassed to set it to 0.
Who knows what else is negotiable? Maybe 40% is if you don't know what you're doing. Or made up out of thin air?
I also know that Hani Almadhoun is the Director of Philanthropy at UNRWA. He came to the US ~2000 for university & stayed in DC. His family & friends are still in Gaza. So he has *connections* both here & there, & everywhere in between.
He & his brother founded this kitchen because he knew, from working inside the system, how effective the big institutions would, or would not, be. That the best results would be if the people could help themselves.
This is all volunteer, so whatever they do or do not pay to get the cash may be more than made up for by inside knowledge & the connections of 60+ local volunteers.
But there is always Red Crescent, via the Red Cross, for people reluctant to give to the kitchens. There, some amount (not 40%) will go to salaries & admin, & they may or may not be allowed in the gates.
(Of course I also *knew* that when I retired, I could downsize my house to smaller & more remote, to both lower my cost of living & free up significant cash.
Who knew that zionist realtors in this state pursued listings & then deliberately sabotaged sales, with the intent of buying them at down the road at bankruptcy prices? I sure didn't, lol, until they did it to me.
Turns out life is a gamble. I choose to bet that my donations may help save lives. That is what I focus on.
OMG. This was an extremely difficult article to read because of the untold, needless suffering.
Once again, I point to Joe Plummer's book "Tragedy & Hope 101: The Illusion of Justice, Freedom, and Democracy." I've been aware of the concepts for many years but never explored Quigley's contribution from sheer exhaustive length. Plummer does an excellent job of explicating Quigley's dive into "Higher Echelon" history while also pointing out Quigley's lapses providing rigorous conclusions.
Conclusions such as this article explicates. How different our world would be if true history were taught.
I would point out one other factor. In my current substack, I reference Venezuela as suffering the same game plan Syria did. Sanctions are levied against a country to starve the citizens and embargo medical devices and medications--to strip them of their initial standard of living into a starving, humbled mass willing to endure anything for a lifting of these conditions.
In Syria, much of the oil the U.S.-protected NE fields produced went at a heavily discounted price to Israel because the "natural asset" is extracted free. The Syrian government and people received not only no compensation for extraction of their natural resource but also suffered lack of electricity which their oil had previously generated. They were reduced to a few hours of electricity each day.
The same plan has been attempted with Venezuela for years. Venezuela is listed as the third largest oil reserves in the world along with many other natural resources.
The City of London-Washington, D.C. axis toppled Assad and installed the current former ISIS-led government. They want the same for Venezuela--people they install and can control. I would also hazard a guess that Venezuela would be their entry point into South America as Iraq has been for the Middle East through the continued occupation by U.S. forces. I would suggest to South American countries to support Venezuela however they can, for that country has been designated as the one through which entry will be made into the continent for complete subjugation.
I warned other Middle Eastern nations of the same about Syria--which has been balkanized as I predicted. Now that Netanyahu is openly talking of taking the West Bank and already occupies the Golan Heights as well as much of southern Syria and southern Lebanon, they see the Greater Middle East Plan appearing before their eyes and object. Unfortunately, they're too late to the game with too little. Countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar will conform to the Axis' vision or die.
You ignore the million people murdered by the Syrians in the civil war and the years that followed. Also, your obsession with Netanyahu somehow obscured your knowledge of the very recent Druze massacre in southern Syria or the Yazidis haulkicast by ISIS.
Netanyahu just bombed Turkish-supplied arms in Syrian depots. Saudi Arabia filed a complaint. The new Syrian .gov is in high temper. Israel bombed Doho with the intention of killing the Hamas delegation gathered for ceasefire talks. Israel bombs where they like.
You point out Israel's defense of the Druze. What has Israel done for the Alawites or Christians? Nothing, my dear. Israel has had no response except continued and sustained bombings.
Here's a commentary from--of all places--Brave AI. I had to chuckle. I wondered if a history would provide a reason more than the geography Israel wants to gain.
"Israel's stated commitment to defending the Syrian Druze is framed as a protective measure, but analysts and reports indicate it serves a broader strategic goal of weakening Syria and securing Israel's borders. This support is used to justify military actions, including airstrikes near Damascus and the deployment of troops into the Golan Heights buffer zone, which Israel claims is necessary to prevent the transfer of weapons to the new Syrian government and to protect the Druze from perceived threats."
Don't bother replying. I'll automatically delete your reply without reading.
We witness the Change of Epochs. Indeed, the beginning of the end of the Undead Empire is upon it. Which is why Alex' insights and analyses are so important, so that we here in "the West" become more and more aware of the barbarism perpetrated in our name. 600 years of European - especially, but not limited to, British colonialism - will come to their end. The dying Beast will tear everyone and everything asunder with the aim to kill, in order that it at it alone can survive. The reasons for armed insurrection and revolution become more and more in number and urgency each passing day. Proxy wars won't do it anymore. People everywhere become more and more aware of how they have been lied to and screwed in every sense of the word, and killed - not by weapons but, for example, healthcare and healthy food denied. 1789 comes to mind. The French Revolution. The Chinese statesman Zhou En Lai, asked what he could say about the French Revolution, is reported to have replied that it is way too premature to answer that question. I wonder: did he foresee our current time....? Just saying. Thankfully, as we have seen in Beijing recently, the Global South gathers together its strength and accelerates its drive for humanity, away from violent abuse and subjugation toward mutual respect, partnership, and sovereign dignity and equality. Yet: the day may come that the Global South, by means of a Russian or Chinese hypersonic missile, is forced to do what it does not want to do: to obliterate the City of London, excising this cancer from both planet and humanity once and for all.
I studied the Irish genocide - ‘an Gorta Mór’ - intensely a number of years ago and it has never made sense. What we do know is that the population was reduced to almost half between deaths and emigration. I recall asking my grandmother about it when I much younger and she said, we never speak about that time in Ireland. The Irish people were made to feel shame for an event that was clearly concocted by the British empire to annihilate the people and the country. Absolutely unbelievable really.
Interesting article. It is clear to me that the British Empire has been subsumed by the WEF. What is happening in Gaza is being gradually implemented in England, Canada, and throughout Europe. They even fight to export laws that forbid open discussion and knowledge of what is happening to other countries such as the USA.
Meanwhile, the EU/London fights their declared proxy war with Russia through Ukraine with the goal of acquiring resources while keeping themselves in power with the distraction of war. I wonder, and hope, that once they arm their population to fight in Ukraine, the people eventually turn and use those weapons on EU/London. The plan to send "peacekeepers" to Ukraine is geared to create a false flag to spark a wider war. I believe it will backfire and the EU will collapse.
Hi Dan, thank you. I know that American Express cut me off, won't allow subscriptions to my newsletters on Substack (Stripe officially informed me about it). But don't worry, nothing here is behind a paywall.
Odd. I once had a card declined, it turned out it was $1 over the limit, which I miscalculated, but the card company didn't send me a notice. Suggest you contact the card company.
Indian farmers were forced to grow GMO cotton. GMO cotton requires more water and therefore irrigation to grow. And the seeds are not able to be saved to grow the following years. When a dry year happened, the farmers lost their crops. And since they can't save seeds, farmers have to purchase GMO seeds to plant the next year. The predictable result, farmers went bankrupt and committed suicide en masse.
Such a pricing assessment of the heart of our zeitgeist's predicament. I live in Australia London's satellite. The awareness of this modus operandi became obvious to me during the Covid.
Palestine is diversion as they are in war against their own citizenry.

Thank you Edgar!
Brits have been called "Perfidious Albion" since the 15th century.
Look it up. It is in their genes.
Thank you for this excellent piece, translated in French here : https://zanzibar.substack.com/p/empires-and-famines
Thank you!
Great piece exposing the City of London Cabal.
The problem now is that they are doing the same to their own people in the western countries
Most people still don't understand who is responsible for the suffering and the games being played by these people
WW3 is in play and they are hell bent on taking us into it to save the Banksters.
I fear they are doubling down now to stay where they are, taking everyone down with them if they lose.
It's always the little man that suffers the worst.
Russia has categorically rejected peacekeepers
Putin is not stupid.
Hey Alex, I want to subscribe monthly but my card is declined, bummer!, I only have one card. Why would my card be declined!? Dan X
Hi Dan, thank you. I know that American Express cut me off, won't allow subscriptions to my newsletters on Substack (Stripe officially informed me about it). But don't worry, nothing here is behind a paywall.

Thanks but my visa was declined
Odd. I once had a card declined, it turned out it was $1 over the limit, which I miscalculated, but the card company didn't send me a notice. Suggest you contact the card company.
I have no problem with my card usually
Me either. On occasion I have issues because I use a VPN and have to turn it off.
Same here with Alon Mizrahi.
ooooo..conspiracy....? :)
Odlično Alex. Strelica je pogodila metu.
