Kirill Dmetriev is a neoliberal, WEF darling economist having been chosen as a Rising Young Leader by the WEF in 2009. And Russia was busy at the WEF about the time of the Maidan Coup trying their damndest to appeal to the west through Germany and the WEF, meeting with Klaus Schwab, setting up a Russia House at the WEF annual meeting, recently introducing digital currency and neoliberal economic policies favoring oligarchs and big business etc. All of this is documented by articles and websites readily available on the internet, plus I detailed it all in a recent essay on substack. So things are seldom as they seem. I wish Russia well, but they might wish to review the meaning of the term imperialist, reading Mackinder and Brzezinski to see how this works and determining what their position in the world is supposed to be. Dmetriev having been educated at Stanford in economics and Harvard Business School is a questionable choice to manage a sovereign fund in Russia. We know very well what neoliberal economic policies have done for the US - destroyed the working class and currently whittling away at the middle class. Bad choices Vladimir, unless you are an oligarch.

Real Estate moguls Witkoff & Kushner have zero qualifications to conduct diplomacy & zero authority to represent the US. Trump is offering "deals." Putin is not looking for "deals"; he's looking for treaties.

And, as one anonymous poster amusingly put it, in 5 hours with Putin Witkoff & Kushner probably learned a lot about Russian medieval history.

I'm trusting that the photographers were allowed in before any refreshments were served. Otherwise the table looks pretty bare with not even water offered.

Btw, photos show that Lavrov & Yi's meeting included a dozen participants, 6 on each side of the table. Diplomats, translators, etc. clearly In a working meeting. It seems highly unlikely that they were tapping into Putin's meeting.

Putin's statement made clear that without Lavrov, nothing is negotiated. And the US continues to demonstrate over & over that it is agreement incapable.

Nobody in their right mind trusts anything the US promises now. Including a likely majority of our citizens as Trump continues to betray his MAGA supporters.

Putin and Trump may meet in 4 months. Nothing substantive is likely to happen until after the midterms. In all likelihood Trump will be a lame duck by then & nobody will sign any agreements until after his term ends. Probably not even then.
