The inflation seems to be planned. The powers that be are not particularly American, as I understand it, but global. And they are demolishing the old empire with a view to rebuilding it to a new type of empire (a technocracy), with them still in control! I don't know if this has ever been successfully done before, in history.
For the benefit of those who are currently in charge and will have even more control if they roll out 'The Great Reset' as planned. After all, the old system has run it's course and easing in to a new one that gives them more control and money without people getting angry and rioting, sounds attractive.
